UNWTO Statistical methodology and capacity building expert, Statistics and TSA, Statistics, Trends and Policy, Madrid
Leandry Moreno works for the area of Statistics and TSA under the newly established Statistics and Trends Programme of UNWTO. She joined UNWTO in 2012 and has since been passionately involved in promoting the conceptual development, implementation and utilization of tourism statistics at national and international levels.
She is involved in the work on the Sustainable Development Goals Indicator Framework led by the Inter-agency and Expert Group on SDG Indicators. This spurred the initiation of UNWTO’s Measuring Sustainable Tourism (MST) project as a means to expand current tourism statistics beyond their predominantly economic focus to also consider environmental and social aspects. MST is supported by the UN Statistical Commission as the means to frame and populate SDG indicators related to tourism.
Leandry has a Master’s degree in business administration from the University Management School of Poitiers, France.
